The Peas Project started in Brussels in 2003. They made a name for themselves at a contest organised by Brussels Jazz Marathon 2004. The year after, they put the stage on fire on Brussels Great Square with their exuberant funk-pop-rock music, before they opened for Maceo Parker himself. In 2006, they shared the top-line of posters with such great names as James Brown, George Clinton, Saïan Supa Crew and Seun Kuti at Couleur Café Festival, then opened again for Maceo Parker in Luxembourg. Self confident with their indie group strength, they produced the album «This is Our First Record» and its release party on March 17th, 2007. Under the label AMG Records, this first record testified their explosive live repertoire. On the same year, they brought thousands of people to the hottest dance on Brussels Great Square again, then meet Shantel, Groundation, Manu Chao and Salif Keita at Esperanzah! Festival.
After two years and a half of maturation, their new album «Power & Romance» was released under the label Believe Digital. This new production was presented by the band in Botanique on April 3d, 2010, as well as on a memorable third concert on Brussels Great Square. Although The Peas Project stays a live band, «Power & Romance» is a full-scale album, that was entirely composed in a studio, and wisely mixed by Toni Economides in London. The music becomes more mature and personal, has enriched with electronic sounds and rhythms, and has been influenced by afrobeat, bassmusic, hip-hop, pop and of course funk. With this resolutely forward-looking new disc, The Peas Project presents their Future Funk.
Under the impulse of, among others, DJ Mellow, co-founder of the LOWUP collective/label, they ordered Flore a remix of the single «Party Crasher». She is a famous DJ/producer from Lyon. This track will be available on the «Party Crasher EP», next to the title-song and to «Naked Truth» and a club edit directly designed for DJs. Icing on the cake: the bands directed an exciting videoclip featuring Kam The Peas, singer/MC and amazing actor, struggling against the attacks of hysterical partycrashers. Tell your average pop bands to stay outta this conflit!
«Power & Romance» will also be re-released on April 16th, 2012, under Sonic RV / New Music Distribution (Benelux) & via Phenix Records / New Music Distribution (GSA)
