Machine Gun was born in 1997 in the region of Mons (Belgium), out of chance encounters between a few musicians in the region, who had a heavy rock background. After a few weeks back and forth inherent in any group during its development stage, the band stabilized and found its name, direct, unadorned and fitting the group’s image.
The group opted from the beginning for a “cover” approach. In the early years, classics from various groups such as Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Trust, Queen, Van Halen ... and AC / DC were all part of the play-list. They started to play live, more and more, and in 2003 an important decision was taken, that would give the definitive direction of the band: to focus exclusively on AC / DC covers, changing its name to "Machine Gun plays AC / DC".
The artistic aim is to deliver
very energetic and visual shows, but very different to those of AC / DC, while
playing music as close as possible to that of AC / DC. Machine Gun revisits the
entire discography of the legendary Australian band, from the first pieces of
High Voltage in 1976 to the compositions featured on the last album, "Black
Ice". Machine Gun play around thirty concerts a year. The band performed on the
main stage of Raimesfest 2009 (France), closed the first Prog Power Festival in
Mons (2010) just after Scorpions and has played with a symphonic ensemble (a
first for the music of AC / DC) at the Huy Summer Festival 2011.
Recently, Machine Gun, wishing to strengthen its rhythm section, welcomed a new drummer.
Since 1998, Machine Gun has given about 300 concerts, and now has a
set list of over 60 pieces of AC / DC, covering both the Bon Scott and Brian
Johnson periods. Some songs have been played live once or twice only, others
have been part of the play list for several years.
