Johnny Cash passed on in 2003 but Def Americans carry on his legacy. Johnny's recording and performing career lasted over five decades and all Cash fans and music lovers in general are in for a treat once Def Amercians kick off their set. Almost every song that Johnny performed live throughout his amazing career find its way to the stage one way or the other in the indistinguishable “boom-chicka-boom” style people all around the world have come to know and love. Before transforming into The Man In Black, Johnny spent more than thirty years reinventing and contradicting himself and breaking all of the rules of traditional country music only to emerge as the ultimate mythic hero and archetype of the genre.
Once onstage these guys are are all about delivering the songs exactly the way they were meant to. It's the same boom-chicka-boom sound that goes so well with Johnny's voice and that is immediately recognised around the world, even before Johnny starts singing. Definite highlight of the show, just as it was in real life, is the charming Kim Carter taking the stage and joining the group for some of the finest Johnny and June duets. No matter how stern, erratic and dark Cash would get onstage in his songs, June was always there to light up the show! Sadly, both Johnny and June passed on a few years ago but Def Americans carry on their unique legacy. The Man in Black, his life and his music live on through the Def Americans.
