Biography
14weeks is a Belgian band from Liège, whose music is a blend of sharp rock and strains of pop peppered with a fresh touch of electro.
Performing live is, for them, the ideal means of expression: their catchy songs are well served by the band’s pure energy, absolute integrity and great enthusiasm on stage.
14weeks’ live act is an out-of-this-world experience, which contextually makes sense.
History
After performing on stages accross Belgium for more than two years, 14weeks self-produced an eight-track-record in 2008. Gaëtan Streel (Piano Club, Me and My Machines, Jeronimo) took charge of the recording and art direction of the album. One of the songs included in this first EP enabled the band to take part in the third season of the radio contest “PureDemo” as well as be selected for the final part of the “Concours Circuit”, of which they finished in the top 10. They also won the French contest “Tremplin des Cyclopédies”(Dijon), a springboard for new musical talents.
The end of 2009 marked a new turning point for the band. After performing throughout Summer in many different music events such as the “Francofolies de Spa”, the “Musik Marathon” in Eupen or the “Fiesta City” in Verviers, 14weeks started to work on new songs and they released their latest EP in February 2010 during a show at the Spirit of 66. In the meantime the band was selected by Ca balance […], a music support program overseen by the Province of Liège. Thus, thanks to the advice of one of its members, Phil Henrion (musician in Blue Velvet), the band can now benefit from this new artistic environment which enables them to grow musically and develop their potential on stage even more.
Besides their live shows, 14weeks is currently shooting a video for their song “What Else” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKlc5DbkXHM, due to be released in Spring. Their very first album is on its way and will see the light of day in September 2012 on Anorak Supersport (ditribution : PIAS). Stay tuned!
